Doing What the Company Wants

The issue which I read from the Ethicist column on the New York Times web site is about a company which requires all the employees to complete a self-directed training course. The person who asks the question mentions that the training is not related with his job. The question is must he ethically obligated to complete the training?
Randy Cohen-the columnist of Ethicist recommends him to deceive his supervisor by telling him that it is not related with his position. Moreover ethicist offers tell to supervisor or CEO that the training is wasting time in his case and it is better to spend that time on a something productive. Columnist mentions that if the CEO or supervisor will think that you are right then, for improving the productivity they will accept your idea and the training would only be mandatory only for employees to whose job the training is related. However Randy Cohen also notes that here would be some important point for company to offer the training course to employees which would be part of company’s future plans.  The columnist brings up that if company CEO things that the training must be mandatory, then all the employees must take the training. He also notice that is not the mistake of company that they did not told anything about training courses when they hired you.

Mandatory Military service

In my argumentative essay I’m planning to write about mandatory military service. As we all know military service is class for making citizens with strong characters. Military service is mandatory in almost half of the world countries. The point of writing this essay is that citizens are not happy to go to military service because of 2 big reasons which are its wasting time and effects on education. For that reason citizens are always looking for ways how they could escape from army. For example in Korea case you don’t go to army if you graduated from PHD degree only in KAIST. That is why many of my Korean friends who study at KAIST they are planning to study PHD degree in KAIST for not going to military service. Even though mandatory military service has several disadvantages, it also has several advantages and benefits which will be important during the rest of our life such as making people responsible, learning new skills and making true friends. On my opinion military service must be mandatory. Even though many people think that military service must not be mandatory, in my essay I’m going to show them by facts that military service must be mandatory.
Here are the lists of works which I am going to use in my essay:

Designer Baby

First of all let me introduce what Designer baby is, because maybe some of you are not familiar with it. According the wikipedia.org website "Designer baby refers to a baby whose genetic makeup has been artificially selected by genetic engineering combined with in vitro fertilization to ensure the presence or absence of particular genes or characteristics"(wikipedia.org). Moreover my designing baby you could also choose gender, eye color and hair color of your baby. But the main purpose of designing baby is to make him healthy and without any kind of disease. I heard about Designer Baby couple of weeks ago and it roused interest in me. As we are studying in scientific university, I guess it will also be interesting for readers to learn about new technologies which are developing every day.
Before writing the essay about Designer Baby I’m going to make a deep research about it on Internet. Firstly I’m going to write about designer baby in general. What is that and how the procedure happening. Secondly I’m planning to write about its biological risks and negative effects. And finally I’m going to write about is that morally right to design the baby? But the main part of my essay will be related with its biological risks. In some sources I found out that it has some biological risks but from the other hand in other sources it is mentioned that there is no biological risk in designer baby.
Here are the sources which I found out on Internet:

First draft of my comparison/contrast essay

In my comparison/contrast essay I am going to compare riding motorcycle with riding bicycle on campus. I decided to write this topic because KAIST students are very interested in buying powerful motorcycles without thinking its disadvantages. As an example I could show myself. The first day I came to KAIST I saw that many students are riding cool motorcycles on campus, after which I became interested in motorcycles. Around 2 weeks later coming to KAIST, I bought my first motorcycle which was for beginner drivers without getting permission from my parents.
My first motorcycle at KAIST
A week later I realized that it was slow for me and I changed motorcycle to more powerful one. I was regularly changing my motorcycles until I had my first accident after 8 months later from the time I started to enjoy with driving motorcycle. As a result my left shoulder was dislocated. The doctors treated my dislocated shoulders and I thought that I would not have problems with my shoulder anymore. As many KAIST students I also did not have neither number plate, nor insurance. That is why I had to pay all the expenses for damaged motorcycle and hospital fees by myself. 2 months after the accident, my motorcycle was stolen which was parked in front of my dormitory. At that time I felt very sad because I lost the thing that I really like a lot and cannot live without. But the pains which I got from motorcycle did not finish even after losing it, because I still had problems with my shoulder. My shoulder was dislocating every time when I was swimming, doing exercise or doing sudden actions with my left hand. A year after I lost my motorcycle I decided to visit doctor and treat my shoulder. As a result I had a surgery in Korea on my left shoulder this summer, before going back to my country. The surgery was very painful and I get hurt around 2 months after the surgery, and moreover I paid a lot of money for surgery which was about 3 times more than the cost of motorcycle. The worst thing was that I get hurt mentally, physically and financially because of motorcycle which I loved.
My last motorcycle
After all of this what happened to me I decided never to buy a motorcycle. Since I lost my motorcycle I am riding a bicycle on campus and very happy with it. Fortunately I never get any trouble because of my bicycle and moreover riding bicycle have same benefits for me such as not paying for petrol and it is good for exercise.
The reason I decided to write about this topic is that I hope it would be helpful for some students who want to buy motorcycle. Probably they will decide to buy bicycle after reading this essay and realize the real disadvantages of driving motorcycle. Even while buying simple thing such as transport we must think about its disadvantages and compare it with its advantages. The most important think in our life is our health, because nothing is interesting if we do not have good health. Buying motorcycle is same as with playing with death. Thus with this topic I want to prevent students from buying motorcycle and advise them to use bicycle on campus.
I am going to start writing essay “Riding bicycle vs. motorcycle on campus” with giving brief introduction about the importance of transport on campus. Then I am going to compare 3 most important things for both bicycles and motorcycles which are safety, their price and everyday cost and their effects on environment. I will also give some statistics and examples for making essay more interesting. Finally in conclusion I am going to write about there is no sense for spending a lot of money for buying motorcycle and recommend them to buy bicycle which is also on two wheels.
I guess my essay will be interesting and at the same time helpful for students, because still many students, especially freshman thinking about buying a motorcycles. I also think that this essay will make students to think before buying motorcycle and hopefully they will decide to buy bicycle with which they will be happy go to their classes.

About Me ^_^

Hello! I would like to introduce myself to you. My name is Elkhan Jabarov. In my blog first of all I’m going to introduce about my country, secondly what did I study in my country before coming to KAIST and later on I’ll let you know how I was admitted to KAIST, my present life in Korea and finally I will tell you about my personal interest and experiences.
I was born in a little city Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan Republic. I think you never hear about my country before. My country Azerbaijan is situated between Europe and Asia and our neighbors are Turkey, Russia, Iran, Armenia and Georgia. My country Azerbaijan is famous for oil industry. The territory of Azerbaijan is a little smaller than South Korea and we have many beautiful beaches and mountains. We also have four seasons same as Korea so if you visit my country, you could enjoy with the amazing views of each season and seasonal fruits.
Before coming to KAIST I studied at Azerbaijan State Oil Academy. I entered Azerbaijan State Oil Academy with high score and got scholarship from my country, which is the reason why I’m here in KAIST now. After studying for two years in the department of Engineer Economics and Management in Azerbaijan State Oil Academy I decided to make difference in my life, cause I wanted to study in one of the world ranking universities, know more about other cultures and to learn as many languages as possible. One day I saw a poster on the wall about KAIST in our university and I was really interested, but that time I didn’t know anything about KAIST and even never heard about Daejeon city. After coming back home I made a small research on the web about KAIST and realized that KAIST was 69th best university in the world and 21st for IT and Engineering. That time I understood that I find out the university for which I was looking for. The most important requirement for entering KAIST was the university entrance exam score which must be more that 550 point and fortunately my result was 639 which was quite higher than required. Finally I entered KAIST and started to study here from the Fall Semester of 2009.
After coming to KAIST my first semester especially first couples of weeks were extremely hard. First of all I was missing my family, secondly I had communication problem especially outside of KAIST with Koreans and I also couldn’t eat Korean food because it seemed too spicy for me. First two months in Korea I was buying the biggest box of Choco Pie which was my breakfast, lunch and dinner, but after some time passed I used to eat Korean food. Now I enjoy eating Korean food such as Dakgalbi, spicy Nakjibokum, Korea vegetable pancake which is called Pajun and my favorite Korean food Jim Dak. I could also add that when I was in vacation in Baku I was really missing Korean food and one day I decided to cook Jim Dak for my family, by the way it was very delicious and my family really loved it.
Now I want to talk a little about my family. My family consists of 4 members: my father, mother, younger sister and me. My dad works for an oil company and my mom works in the same company with my dad. My sister is a junior student in Azerbaijan State Oil Academy and her major is Telecommunication Engineering. Last year she was admitted to KAIST but she couldn’t come because of some problems, but this year she is going to apply for Seoul National University.
In this part I’m going to talk about my hobbies. I love driving cars and enjoy with cars. When I feel stressed I love to drive my car especially night time and listen loudly to some nice music. I also love travelling and I travel different countries as minimum 2-3 times every year. I have been in Malaysia, Dubai, China, Turkey, Korea, Georgia, Russia, France, Italy and in some other Europe countries. I had memorable trips in this summer vacation to Turkey and to Jeju Island in South Korea. I want you to share with you my trip to Jeju Island. In Jeju Island there were many awesome attractions such Sungsan peak, beautiful waterfalls and museums. I also did some activities such as driving ATV motorbikes with funny army uniform and finding the way in Maze Park. When I visited Maze Park I had only 30 minutes to find the way out because if I couldn’t find the way out I was going miss my airplane. When I entered the Maze Park I thought it was easy to find the way out but I was wrong. 40 minutes passed but I was still inside and I could find the way. I was running and in 50th minute I found out the way out but unfortunately it was starting point where I entered, not the end of the Maze Park, but luckily I didn’t miss my plane. I hope I will do it next summer.  I also visited Korean traditional house in Jeju Island I learned a lot about Korean culture and history. I bought some souvenir of Jangseong for my mom, which can protect us from bad thing and bring good luck.
Jeju Island in South Korea. Summer 2011
I’m fluent speaker of 4 languages: Azerbaijan, English, Turkish, and Russian so you could easily talk with me in any of these languages and now I’m learning Korean language. I would like to speak Korean fluently until I will graduate from KAIST and if I have a chance, I would like to have working experience in Korea.
In the end I would like to introduce my motto: "If we never failed, we never lived".
           That’s all about me!
